"And that brings us to the fourth step in the system, and that is your lead magnet. So, the aim of your content—there are a number of aims. One is positioning you as an expert because of the value of the content, the quality of the content you're sharing.”
JASON BUCKNER:
"And it does that too, doesn't it? You know, Donna-Marie, I was talking with you before we hit record on this, and I'd been putting out content for about a year. And I thought to myself, 'Oh, this is doing nothing for my business.'
Although every time we sent a content post out, even with my low social following that I've got, we were getting more people opting into our lead magnet that you're about to tell about. But the other thing that it did was it positioned me as an expert. And I've been speaking at events and, you know, teaching this stuff. And I had all this content out there for a year, weekly content for a year. And there was an event—I can't remember the name of it, a business event that was running in Wollongong actually, and I live in Melbourne.
And this guy emails me and says, 'Jason, we want you to come and speak at our event.' And I said, 'Well, how do you know you want me to come and speak at your event?' And he said, 'Well, you know, I Googled, I found your name, I looked through all the content that you've got out, and we thought you're perfect for our event.' And then I got invited to speak at this event, which was an opportunity to get more customers, which I wouldn't have got had I not had the content out there positioning me as the expert in the niche.
So, it's very cool, very cool stuff. Awesome.”
DONNA-MARIE COGGINS:
“Yeah. And that's the sort of thing it can do. And sometimes it might look like it's not getting the results at the time, but it's the consistency that really matters. If you do it once or twice and think, 'Oh well, that didn't work. I didn't get an avalanche of sales from it.' It's not going to work. It's the consistency. It's a long-term strategy..."
JASON BUCKNER:
"And you get long-term results out of it too.”
DONNA-MARIE COGGINS:
“That's it. That's it. So, the aim of our content is ideally to drive people back to our website and back to our lead magnet and get them on our list so that we can follow up."
